July 27th through August 1st, 2004

After leaving the wonderful City of Old
Quebec, we stopped to see the Parc De La Chute-Montmorency.

These awe-inspiring falls are 272 feet
high, this is 98 feet higher than Niagara Falls. We viewed these falls
from a suspension bridge and the panoramic stairs.
The picture above is taken from a small
bridge leading to the suspension bridge shown to the left.

Above and right shows the support
cables and adjusters. The coin is a quarter to give you and idea of
size. The threads are so fine that you almost think they are just
circles.

After we crossed the bridge we spotted
this sign. Makes you wonder.

This view of the St. Laurence River is
from the mid-way-point across the suspension bridge

Looking at the suspension bridge and
the Montmorency River as it goes over the edge.

After walking down a path and
descending some stairs I was able to photograph the falls from an angle.

Here's Joan going back up the stairs to
cross back over the bridge. I wore her out this day as we did much hiking
and ascending stairs.

This is a photo of the panoramic stairs
which I ultimately descended and had to climb back up but not before I was
able to get this nice picture of the falls.

The photo below was taken just as I got
to the top of the stairs. That was a climb!

These last three pictures were taken as
we traveled through the countryside heading for the small town of Cochrane
where we would board a train and leave civilization behind. Our
destination would be James Bay.

A beautiful field of mustard flowers.
We saw many of these vast fields of yellow.
