August 5th through 8th, 2004

What a wonderful place Winnipeg is but we need to continue on our travels across Canada.  Our destination was to be a large town of over 800 thousand and it is the City of Edmonton.

While traveling across the country we stopped for lunch and spotted this license plate.  This is the plate for the Northwest Territories.

When we arrived in Edmonton we stopped in at the Mall.  The West Edmonton Mall claims to be the largest mall in the world.  This may be true as it is huge.  The picture on the left is an ice skating rink in the mall.  In addition to the rink there is a full water park with a beach in the mall plus an aquarium, restaurants and the many shops.

The picture on the right is of Flamingos still in the mall.

We left the mall but only scratched the surface of seeing it.  We headed for Fort Edmonton.  We needed to board the train which would deposit us in front of the fort

Our conductor was and enjoyable gentleman and a joy to talk to.

We left Edmonton after visiting for two days.  Our intent was to stop for several days in Calgary.  We are now heading south with Southern California in our sights.  When we arrived in Calgary it was raining with great intensity.  We continued on planning on a several day visit in Glacier National Park.  The rain continued and so did we.  We ended up stopping in Washington on the banks of the Columbia River.
