After spending the night in Washington we started towards California.  While in Oregon we passed Lake Albert.  The water was still and many shore birds were at the waters edge.

After crossing the state line we stopped to take this picture of North California farm land

After passing Lake Tahoe we decided to visit the old Ghost Town of Bodie.  We chose a north entrance road and ran into some cowboys herding cows down the dirt road.  They had nine dogs with them and it was fun to watch the dogs chasing stray cows and getting them back in line.

Our first view of Bodie as we came over a hill.

What would have been the back yard.

I believe this was the blacksmiths place.

On the right is the wood mill where the logs were cut square.

A saw blade hanging on the side of the wood mill.

A home that looks to have had many additions over its lifetime.

Notice on one side of this building the builder used tin ceiling material in place of wood.

Looking down the dirt road towards the highway that would take us home.  In the distance is the Sierra Nevada Mountains still showing some snow from last winter.  On the left is Mono Lake.

What a great trip but the time has come for it to end.  Eight weeks and 11,500 miles.  We have met wonderful people, saw old friends and family and experienced sights and sounds that we will remember forever.

End...
