Another early morning in search of the Loon family.  It is the middle of September and the leaves on the trees are beginning to change.  The days are cool with Fall fast approaching.

This is my first view of the baby Loon today,  swimming about and still being cared for by one of the adults.

In this photo to the right the adult is making a dive for more food.  With her powerful thrust she splashes up water hiding the chick from my view.

The chick continues to grow and is diving more often.  In another week or so I expect it to be able to start feeding on it's own

As the mother (?) Loon and baby swim away I wonder what will I find on my next visit.  I will probably wait several days and then head out in search of this family.  Be sure and check back as the update will be posted at the end of the month.

As a side note my friend Phred called the very next morning and asked me to join him for breakfast.  We flew over to Toddy Pond and on landing there right in front of us was a Loon with her chick.  The baby was not to crazy about the plane and promptly dove.

Toddy Pond is about 10 miles long and we are at one end.
