Today is September 25th and this
will be our last day of following the activities of our Loon Family.

We found our young loon at the
far end of the lake still accompanied by an adult and still being fed.
He is also feeding himself by diving but the adult care continues.

If you look closely in the
picture above you can see the stripe around his neck beginning to show along
with other adult plumage. It will probably be two seasons before he
takes on the full brilliance of an adult.

Stretching his wings.
(Several days after these
pictures were taken we observed our little loon learning to fly. He
became airborne and flew for several hundred yards before landing back in
the water.)

After that nice stretch settling
back into the water.

This is our final
view of the young loon. We look forward to next spring for his return
along with other adults. It has been a fun summer watching and
photographing the loons.
