The Loons arrived this year on Beech Hill Pond in April and they have been my principle subject for most of the year.  The pictures I will be sharing with you have been taken during the month of August.  I chose this month because of the Loon chicks.

Loons have long been considered by many North Americans as beautiful and special, symbolizing wilderness and solitude. Many cottage-goers, campers, and vacationers would feel their trip was incomplete without viewing a loon or listening to its haunting call.

This is a small photo of Beech Hill Pond taken from my kayak along with a map photo to give you an idea of it's shape.

Beech Hill Pond is located in the township of Otis, Maine.  It is about three miles long and a half mile wide.

In the next few pages I will continue to share my love of Loons with photos of the parents and chicks
